Iron Marine anchors in the surf at the water's edge
Chapter One
Our Story

Born on
the Water.

01 / Origin

It started, as a lot of good ideas do, with two brothers fighting the wind on a family boating trip.

Wes — a certified welder and tinkerer by trade — got tired of watching the boat drift every time the wave pattern shifted. So he did what welders do: he designed a better anchor. Engineered around physics and seabed penetration rather than weight.

After years of personal use, Lance saw what Wes had really built — not a one-off fix, but a product. Together the brothers launched Iron Marine: a family-run shop turning out anchors for the people who'd rather be on the water than fighting it.

No. 01

Lance Nelsen

Co-Founder

Lance saw the broader potential of Wes's anchor and pushed to put it in other boaters' hands. His vision — and a deep love for being on the water — drives the company's direction.

No. 02

Wesley Janssen

Co-Founder & Inventor

Wes is the welder, the designer, and the reason the anchor exists. Engineered the original 20 years ago for his family's boating needs — durable metal construction, detachable handle, no compromise on hold.
